GUIDELINES
Recycling Best Practices
Clean Before Recycling
Rinse containers to remove food residue. Even a small amount of contamination can spoil an entire batch of recyclables.
Flatten Cardboard
Break down boxes and flatten cardboard before placing them in the recycling bin. This saves space and improves collection efficiency.
Check the Number
Look for the resin code (1–7) on plastic items. Most programs accept plastics #1 and #2. When in doubt, check your local guidelines.
Keep Lids On
Leave caps and lids on bottles and jars. Modern sorting facilities can handle them, and loose lids often fall through machinery.
